Stefan Salvatore could handle a lot of things in his 145+ years as a vampire. He had been able to control the Ripper side of him after much help from his friends, even though part of him still wanted to give himself completely over to the blood.
He could handle the fact that Elena, the love of his life now loved his brother Damon. That Bonnie was stuck in some weird prison with some wacko named Kai. That he could never return to his home in Mystic Falls because of some mystic barrier.
That his girlfriend Ivy was turned into a vampire by Enzo and was now dead. That now his brother was alive again and that he had everything that he ever wanted. But what Stefan couldn't handle was that through all of this he couldn't handle the fact that he had missed every single humanly possible to indicate that Caroline was developing feelings towards him.
For over 145+ years he had missed it all, when she had been there through everything since he had returned to Mystic Falls. He was aware of what Caroline thought of him when they first met but he put that down to some crush. And now here he was sitting at some bar in Whitmore because he was not invited to 'Friendsgiving'
Tyler had come into the bar to pick up some wine for 'Friendsgiving' dinner and had asked why he wasn't going. This whole 'Friendsgiving' thing was Caroline's thing and she still hated him for what he had done and how he had treated her.
He couldn't blame her for hating him because he deserved it. Signalling the bartender to bring him another bottle of beer so that he could drown his own sorrows and celebrate Thanksgiving on his own.
