Elijah had taken himself back to his own quarters, he had found himself drained of energy and needed to rest. His brother had been parading him around the French Quarter to make his re-appearance known to the witches. Elijah was not in his right mind to be making appearances but his brother had insisted that news get back to his mother that he was awake and well and would not return to her side.
Memories were still coming back in pieces and he was struggling to piece them all together to form a clear picture. Removing his jacket and draping it over the back of the chair and unbuttoning a few buttons on his shirt, he felt trapped and suffocated.
Perching himself on the edge of the bed he felt something tickle underneath his nose and raised his hand to see what it was; blood. Rushing over at a human pace to the floor length mirror in his room, his nose was bleeding heavily.

To say he was drained...big huge understatement. But he was in a bit of a feeding haze too. Elijah's hexed insanity was like a great liquor or expensive rare delicacy. But boy was he going to have one hell of a hangover. And just like sinful addicts..he'd have to stop it soon.
But before that, fearing without a doubt Elijah would fall back into the trance like coma, he needed to talk to the vamp.
Funny thing being in someone's head. There were no secrets.
Knocking on the door, bracing a hand on the frame to keep from swaying, his head buzzing with his dark power in a feeding frenzy, he looked up when the door opened. Smiled.
"Hi..." saw the nose bleed and sighed. "Yeah, I figured it wouldn't last much longer. I'm having them too. Can we talk?"

Elijah grabbed hold of several tissues and tried to stem the blood flow but nothing seemed to stop it. The blood was just soaking into the tissues one by one.
Hearing the door creak open he craned his head around to see Reno entering the room, explaining about why he was getting the nose bleeds.
"Please" he offered and indicated to the chair next to the bed as he turned back around to the mirror to try and clean up the mess. His tongue ran across his lips as he tasted his own blood which almost made him vomit.
Plugging his nose with several tissues as he could already feel the blood flow beginning to slow down "Will this ever stop?" he asked gazing into the mirror to see Reno's reflection.

"Depends. I've had 2 or 3 today. Real mess. I think its because our time together is almost done."
He took the offered chair and clasped his hands between his knees, looking down at the floor. "Before we part ways, I wanted to talk to you about something that's uh..." grinned, "heavy on your mind." Tapped the side of his head. "Sorry, I'm in your head. I know everything you know."
Looked up to met Elijah's eyes. "Why don't you tell Hayley you love her?" Lifted a hand as the vamp started to protest.
"Don't even try to deny. Your head and heart are connected, dude. And I know...brother's ex, mother of his kid. Trust me, I sooo know how that is. I've been there too. So why haven't you told her?"

Two or three today, great. This was all Elijah needed, focusing on his gaze in the mirror as he began to mop up the blood that coated his face, his clean shirt now stained with his own blood. Frowning as he turned on his heel to face Reno who was now sitting on the chair next to the bed, ready to interject when he spoke. Elijah did not completely understand how Reno's magic worked, but if he was already in his head.
When he spoke of not telling Hayley that he loved her, he opened his mouth to protest. But was silenced when he Reno told him about parts of his life. Sighing as he pulled open a drawer and retrieved a fresh clean white shirt, removing his soiled one and tossing it into a hamper as he slowly put on the clean one.
"In over a thousand years I have only but loved three times. Tatia, the original doppleganger, Celeste, true in a turn of events she was murdered by people I thought I could call my own and she returned with a vengeance to destroy my family" he paused as the corner of his lips raised into a soft smirk
".....And her. Katerina. True she sought to murder my brother Niklaus on endless occasions and placed a dagger in my heart. She expects both the best and worst in me. I cannot surprise her with my actions" he ended briefly considering his next words about Hayley. "...I cannot give Hayley what she desires. She desires a man who is untainted by darkness, a man who can change what he is. I am not the same man that she once met. Her heart desires it all, man who can give himself completely over to her. I am neither of those things" he ended answering Reno's question.
Feeling a numbing pain being to start in his lower arm, an almost cramping sensation. Stumbling over to the bed, he perched himself on the edge letting his body relax into the comfort of something sort beneath him. "What....What will happen when we depart?" he asked, afraid of the answer as he craned his head to face Reno.

He listened to Elijah run down his love been-there, done-that list and sat back. Frowning,he rubbed his forehead and gave him a smile.
"I've only loved one woman. And when I fell in love with her, the first time I ever saw her smile, I wasn't even a man. I was literally...nothing. Just the split personality of the man I knew she deserved...but knew she should be mine."
He looked down and said softly, "I even decided to cease to be, to just fade away if I could never just be touched by her. Me...not the man who kept me locked away. Because I thought that would be impossible. I wasn't real. Not in any sense of the word."
He leaned forward and met Elijah's eyes. "The thing about love? Its so simple. And pure. Its we that make it hard. Its human nature to try to make something pure and not see it as that. We aren't very smart."
He blew out a breath. "See, back when I was the dark side of the good, I thought I knew what she deserved. What she wanted and needed. Just like you think you know about Hayley. But Elijah..." gave him an understanding smile, "shouldn't that be her choice? Her decision? Don't make love harder than it is. That's ruining the pure beauty of it."
He stood and grasped Elijah's chin to look in his eyes. Already specks of black could be seen in the white. Sighed and let his chin go.
"I'm sorry I couldn't give you a fix that lasts longer. But its the best I could do." Stepped back and crossed his arms. "I like you. Your brother,no. Not even close. But you're a good man. A good heart. Chances are,Hayley's heart and yours are wondering why your so stupid just like I am."
He turned to head to the door. "As far as what's going to happen? We'll find our in a day or two. Then..." kept his back to him and frowned, saying softly, "I have no idea. So don't waste it Elijah. Listen to your heart and tell your head to just shut up."
Looked over her shoulder at him. "Make the most of the pure and simple. Not everyone gets that chance, dude." Snapped his, fingers and grinned. "Uh. Mate." Winked.

Elijah listened to what Reno had to say about love and his life and he made sure to take it all in, well the parts of it that he understood. There was a darkness in both of them, and the darkness inside of Elijah frightened him. For so long he believed that he make a reasonable excuse for his actions, when in truth there was none to be found.
Whether the excuse be that it was for his family, it was always for his family. Elijah had given up everything that meant anything to him to dedicate his entire life and soul to his family. Always and Forever. A promise that he, Niklaus and Rebekah made around their mother's grave.
It was all Elijah ever wanted, a family. Bits and pieces of what his mother spoke of during his time held captive started to flicker through his mind. That when he would awaken he would seek his mother out to be purified. Pushing that thought to the back of his mind when he stirred from his thoughts when Reno raised his chin as he looked into his eyes.
Hearing what he had to say about not giving him a permanent fix. Elijah was well aware that he started to feel different these last few days and could feel that something was changing inside of him.
He was feeling more drained and his dreams had started to become more vivid "I thank you for the time that you have given me" he smirked softly and couldn't help but chuckle at his dis-like of his brother.
"My brother does not make it us for us to love him. But he is my brother, for over a thousand years he had betrayed, killed and goes behind our backs to every extent of destroying this family. But he is my family" he spoke trying to recall memories that were already scattered.
"I would like to apologize for my brother's actions in what he has done to Emma. I never wish for anyone to get hurt because of my foolish actions of letting my guard down. Please give her my sincere apologies, I give you my word that no harm shall come to her" he promised.
Smirking at Reno's comment about listening to his heart, but Elijah didn't even know where to begin. For over 500 years he loved Katerina and he had let that love falter when he learned of her death. Hayley was unlike anyone he had ever met before, she stood up for herself against his brother. She stood by his side and fought against their foes.
"But what if I cannot trust my heart? What if my heart cannot allow that perfect moment of happiness which I seek. That you have....mate" he added with a light grin on his face.
Blinking rapidly as though he felt something in his eyes, his hand reached up to touch them. Everything seemed so much brighter than it was before. The room was only lit with several lamps that were not that bright, but even they had started to affect him.
"Shall I feel it?" he tilted his head to the side "Shall I feel it when you are no longer there?" he asked preparing himself that once Reno left his head that he may slip back into unconsciousness.

He turned to lean against the door. "I guess I get why you guys wouldn't trust anyone. But you have to start doing that sometime. Heck, I trust everyone until they screw it up."
Chuckled and shrugged. "It sometimes makes me so bad at decisions, but it also helped me believe when I didn't have anything to believe in. Not in even me because I thought I was nothing. I've gotten better. And I get Klaus. He kinda reminds me of my boss, Bounce, if well, Klaus was well, likable. But pain does that. Scars over parts of you that you might need later but because of the scar tissue you can't feel there anymore."
He dropped his head forward as he crossed his arms. "In a way, we'll always be linked. And I promise, if you drop back into that coma, I'll try my best to find some comfort for you there. If only to send what I can to let you know you're not in there alone. What can I say?" His smile spread wide, "Once you're infected by my Madness, you're never alone. Ever. Like ever ever."
He walked over and pressed his fist against Elijah's shoulder. "I'd like to think maybe, after this, you'll be okay. And maybe, after this. We can be friends. You need some friends. Something tells me you haven't had many that weren't out for anything. I don't need anything from you. I already got everything you don't. And its all rolled into the most beautiful Witch in the world and four amazing kids. So, see, you can be my friend. You don't have anything I want or need. I already have more than I ever thought I would have."
He gave him another smile. "And don't worry about Witch. Thank god she had the most forgiving nature or I would be screwed, dude. But I'll pass on your apology." Paused. "Uh. You can tell Klaus I'm sorry I broke stuff." Snickered, "Including him. But he shouldn't underestimate people. We can all die. Just a matter of who, how and where. He's lucky. Very lucky to not find that out the other night."
He felt a trickle on his nose and brought his hand up to wipe black blood. "Well, I need to go. I need Witch to stop us both from bleeding all gross and stuff. We'll talk again. Either here or..." brought his finger up to point to his head, "or here."

Elijah couldn't help but smile a little "Trust is something very hard to come by" he added before listening to Reno tell him about his life, his family. Things that Elijah had always wanted, but it was a dream that he had pushed to the back of his mind.
When he became a vampire, all of his dreams was destroyed by his mother. He had murdered the first woman that he ever loved and all because he had not been able to control himself or his blood-lust.
"Perhaps one day...we both can find peace" he smiled sincerely at his friend Reno.
But Elijah could not deny that he was frightened about the prospect of what would happen when Reno left his mind. But knowing that part of him would still be here, it gave him some hope that his mind would no longer be forever trapped in the hell that his mother had created for him. Forcing him to remember every single detail of his 1000 years as a vampire. But he knew that the nightmares would only just the beginning of his hell.
"My brother can regain more possessions to add to his vast collections. That I can assure you" he chuckled a Reno.
Raising his fingers to his nose in unison with Reno as he felt blood trickle from his nose. When Reno explained that he was going to go back to Emma to get her to help him. He simply nodded and watched Reno leave his room. Walking over to the floor length mirror, grabbing clean tissues to mop up the blood, he let his eyes close for a moment to revel in the silence. Never in a thousand years had Elijah feared for his life.
