"You sure we should be out here?" A soft female voice muttered, followed by a giggle and gasp as her boyfriend's lips skimmed along her jaw to place a kiss against her neck. His lips pulled into a smile, and he raised his head.
"There hasn't been any animal attacks in weeks...plus the Sheriff said it had been taken care of." He didn't wait for her to reply before he went back to what he was doing, unaware of the eyes watching the two of them. There was a flutter of wings, and a "caw" as a crow landed on a branch near them.
"That bird is staring at us," she muttered.
"It's just a bird, ignore it."
A breeze swept across the forest suddenly, an eerie fog began to creep along the forest floor until their sight was obscured. The woman swallowed, glancing around and then suddenly she realized that she couldn't feel her boyfriend any more; his warmth being replaced by the cold of the fog.
"Brad?" She called out, chewing on her lip. She screamed suddenly as the crow came flying out of the fog to narrowly miss her head as it swooped up into the branches. There was a thud a moment later, and she whirled only to let out another scream at the drained, lifeless body of her boyfriend lay in front of her. She backed up several times until she ran into something.
Damon tilted his head, catching her shoulders as she backed into him. His lips curled up into a vicious, bloody smile, moments before his tongue flicked out to clean the blood from his lips--not that it helped with the blood dripping down his chin. As the woman turned around, he caught her chin roughly in his hand, his eyes dilating as he used his compulsion.
"Don't run, and for the love of God don't scream...you're already giving me a headache." He smirked as she gave a subtle nod of her head, and he patted her cheek gently.
"Good girl."
He paused briefly, and then turned to look behind him. "Don't recall inviting you...but hey stay awhile, maybe we can make it a party."
Damon was angry and hurting. Not a good combination. It made him do stupid reckless things like start hunting on the borders of Mystic Falls.
