Katherine swallowed, her throat dry and her lips flaking from lack of water. She shifted to rest her head on her arm, curling up tighter against the wall. She was sore, hungry, and cold. She was also stubborn and refused to accept anything from Esther. Elijah was silent now, and that worried her. Esther was starting to break him, and the fact that she was sitting here doing nothing made everything so much worse.

"I wish you'd let me help you child," Esther's voice broke through the silence of the crypt, and Katherine let her eyes flick open. She licked her lips, glaring at her. She shifted, pushing herself up into a better sitting position, and wincing slightly at how stiff her back was. At some point--most likely while she was unconscious--her shoulder had been relocated leaving her shoulder sore but not in agonizing pain.

"You want to help?" She rasped out. "Then let us go."

"I can't do that," Esther replied, walking over to her. The witch was mixing something in a bowl, and the closer she got the more the herby smell seemed to take over her senses. She placed it on the shelf above her head, and grabbed a bowl from the alter near by. She crouched down in front of Katherine, pressing the bowl to her lips. "Drink."

Katherine groaned, trying to turn her head away, but eventually she gave in, allowing the cool water to slide down her throat. She wouldn't deny that it felt good on her parched throat, but she also didn't trust the witch.  She turned away finally, letting out a harsh breath. She swallowed, licking her lips. Before she could say anything, she felt Esther brush her hair from her face.

"You are special, Katerina, the last living doppelganger. You need to be protected. But you're being stubborn and reckless. Falling into my child's trap like so many other butterflies. He will rip your wings off just like he did Tatia."

Katherine turned her head slowly to look at Esther with a glare. Elijah had killed Tatia, the realization had been close to breaking him but he was convinced that Esther was changing what he remembered. She was willing to agree with him on that. Even if it was true, he was a vampire. People died, and sometimes people you cared about did. She reached up to swat Esther's hand away from her, and hissed.

"I'm more of a spider, and you should really find another analogy. He won't hurt me."

Esther stood with a sigh. "If he continues the path he is on...he will. But I know you won't believe me unless I prove it." She reached for the bowl she had had earlier.  Katherine narrowed her eyes, and then sneezed suddenly as Esther blew a handful of the herbs into her face. She coughed, rubbing at her face to glare up at Esther. Everything seemed to spin suddenly, and she blinked several times.

"Wha--" She cut off, slumping against the wall as darkness took over her.
